Two coasts plus two cultures plus two brothers equals Too Attached.
Siblings Vivek Shraya and Shamik each have their own distinct musical style and personality. Shraya’s art spans music, literature, film and performance. Shamik is a beatboxer and MC, photographer and producer, and touring partner of Method Man & Redman, and Tanya Tagaq.
Working together as Too Attached, the siblings took their time exploring each’s strengths and working to bring out the best in each other. “When we were children,” explains Sharya, “my younger brother and I used to sing together every Sunday evening at our religious centre. I would often choose which bhajan we would sing, and he handled some of the more complicated vocals. We loved singing songs by Zhane like Groove Thang and Hey Mr. DJ.” Fast forward to 2015, and the pair have channeled that early collaborative spirit into a sonically rich tapestry of cultures, vinyl samples, R&B, and Indian film soundtracks.
