The Garrys

Three sisters from Saskatoon, SK calling themselves The Garrys are about to steal your heart with their so-simple-it’s-stunning surf pop/doo-wop sound. “If Ed Sullivan and The Spice Girls went on a date, they would dance to The Garrys,” the band suggests by way of describing their sound and vibe.

“Truey Bluey” layers Erica, Julie, and Lenore’s delightful vocal harmonies over an uncomplicated early rock ‘n’ roll arrangement that fades in as if being beamed to your brain from another time. You might assume, as I did that Garry is the ladies’ surname, but as they state on Bandcamp: “Garry gave birth to us. And now we have given birth to him.” One proud parent, I’m sure.

The song is The Garrys’ first release from their debut album Warm Buds, expected some tim this spring. It’s available now as a name-your-price download from Bandcamp.

In it, you'll hear a the broad strokes of someone who's explored a range of sonic influencers--from 13th Floor Elevators to Ride, The Velvet Underground to Atlas Sound--and is now drilling down through the gauzy haze of guitar drone to find their essence, their truth.
