You can’t help but smile when LUKA begins “Why Don’t You Go To Her” by sing/speaking, “This is a conversation between me and my heart.” The clarification is cute, and the sentiment and purity of the statement indicative of the emotional vulnerability with which the Toronto songwriter creates music.
It’s as personal as a song can get, a tug of war between one’s mind and one’s heart, one’s conscience and desire. The unadorned yet vibrant guitar and constant rhythm of the song underscores the conversation, one that’s never fully resolved.
Does he go to her? Does he play it safe? “I’ll get back to you,” he coyly says as the song comes to a close, leaving us to imagine how the scenario played itself out, a new possible outcome with every listen.
“Why Don’t You Go To Her” is from LUKA’s forthcoming album, Summon Up A Monkey King.Tags: Luka
