It took Vancouver BC’s The Written Years six years to complete their self-titled debut album, but it won’t take you nearly that long to find yourself seduced by this indie rock three-piece. There’s pain, pathos, and pleasure enough for every one on The Written Years‘ eight tracks. Of particular note is “I Would Miss My Home If I Knew Where It Was” and “Homesick Dirge” (video embedded above), two tracks where the theme of loss, nostalgia and a longing for stability and comfort come to a head with expert songwriting and playing.
Friends of QBiM in Vancouver can catch The Written Years next on April 17, 2014 at the Media Club. The rest of us can do ourselves a solid and purchase The Written Years now as either a digital download, CD, or a deluxe edition that includes a bonus CD of acoustic tracks and home demos from their Bandcamp store now.
