With “Impressions”, the latest sample from their upcoming Venus On Edge LP, Hooded Fang are cocking their collective head at their audience and brazenly asking, “Is this too much for you? Can you take it?” Like a chemically induced burst of frenetic energy, like a Mexican stand-off involving a hungry lion, a delusional clown with a deadly weapon, and a jilted ex-lover whose come to seek revenge, “Impressions” will leave you dizzy, disoriented, and dripping with sweat.
The evolution in sound from Hooded Fang’s early days where harmonies were thick and the instruments juicy has been remarkable. They’ve shed elements of their sound and style down until only the leanest, meanest, most manic sounds remain. Daniel Lee, Lane Halley, April Aliermo, and D. Alex Meeks will take their slimmed down, spastic sounds to the people later this spring with a string of already announced Canadian tour dates, with more coming soon.
