Listening to TV Freaks lately has gotten me in a real head bangin’ mood, so when Buzz Records dangled the temptation of a three-piece proto-punk band from Toronto called The Beverleys in front of me, I took the bait.
Glad that I did. They debuted “Bad Company” the first single from their Buzz debut self-titled EP (out digitally 11 February 2014) earlier this week, and if it’s anything to go on, the Southern Ontario punk rock scene just got a serious shot of adrenaline in its ass. These women make some heavy metal racket that’s vicious, direct, and infectious.
The Beverleys will be out on tour promoting the new EP all next month, starting with an in-store at SOni Boom’s Kensington location in Toronto, ON on 8 February, followed by a stop in Hamilton on Valentine’s Day (14 February) at The Baltimore House. They make landfall in London,ON on the 21st at The Black Shire, before closing out the month back in Toronto at Sneaky Dees (28 February). March sees them taking Brooklyn, NY by storm with a show at Death By Audio alongside Greys and HSY (who support The Beverleys on all other stops), then up to Ottawa, ON on the 7th at Cafe Alt, before ending in Montreal, QC on the 8th at New Drones Club.Tags: Ontario, The Beverleys, Toronto ON
