I’m so charged up right now I’m practically vibrating!
I haven’t even completely finished listening to “Easy Come Easy Go”, the new single from Great Lake Swimmers and already I’m writing this post in preparation for tomorrow morning. It’s from the just-announced new LP, New Wild Everywhere, set for released on April 3, 2012, and marks the first time Great lake Swimmers have entered a recording studio proper to lay down music. “We wanted to try something new, expand our horizons, and flex a bit of the creative muscle we’ve built up through years of touring,” says head ‘Swimmer Tony Dekker. Judging from this track, the band have been pumping some serious iron. It is the most upbeat, jauntiest song in their canon thus far, and a welcome return. A very welcome return.
Speaking of returns, some Canadian tour dates have also been announced, with support from Cold Specks (who QBiM adores). The dates announced thus far are: Fri, May 4, Winnipeg, MB (West End Cultural Centre); Sun, May 6, Edmonton, AB (McDougall United Church); Mon, May 7, Calgary, AB (Central United Church); Fri, May 11, Vancouver, BC (The Commodore Ballroom); Sat, May 12, Victoria, BC (Alix Goolden Hall); and Sat, June 2, Toronto, ON (The Music Hall, formerly Danforth Music Hall). Here’s hoping Tony doesn’t forget his fans back home in Niagara and will be making a stop in the peninsula, too.
