The year in lists… so far

December 12th, 2010  |  Published in Uncategorized

Exclaim! have their list of 20 best albums up.  Arcade Fire sit atop a predominantly Canadian list.

Always an interesting collection, Frank Yang at Chromewaves listed his 10 favourite albums of the year on Monday of this week.  Frank’s unique year-end artwork is a treat to see, too.  This year he’s outdone himself.

You Ain’t No Picasso has his Favourite 30 albums up (I think this is the first love for New Pornographers I’ve seen).

Stereogum, not content to just listing a mere 10 discs, posted their top 50 albums of 2010 on Thursday.

Slowcoustic just made the cut with yesterday’s post of it’s favourite albums of ’10.

Indie Music Filter got their list of the best albums of ’10 up just this past Friday.

One of the first out the gate this year was Gorilla vs. Bear whose 30 best albums of the year was posted on December 2.

Twee-tastic blog Skatterbrain has his favourite LPs on the year.  I always look forward to Matt’s list, as it’s a great resource for finding fantastic albums that I haven’t yet heard.

TSURURADIO has a lot of fun (maybe too much) listing their 25 albums.  Let’s just say it involves a photo of Jorge Garcia, that a lot of people thought was a joke when it first came to light earlier this year.

Drowned In Sound add lots of visuals to their list of 10 favourite albums of the year.

SPIN makes online users of the magazine scroll through screen after screen to get the whole of their 40 best albums of the year.  I found it interesting that their #40 band, Teenage Fanclub, was a one -time #1 on their list.  That was back in 1991 for Bandwagonesque (at # 2 that year was R.E.M.’s Out of Time, and #3 was Nevermind by Nirvana).

Q Magazine has published their 50 favourites in the magazine proper, but the list doesn’t show up online at the moment.  I’ll save you the over-inflated import cost of buying the magazine:  Arcade Fore are at #1, followed at #2 by Robert Plant, Plan B at #3, Laura Marling is at #4, and Vampire weekend at #5.

Although Paste Magazine stopped being a physical magazine this year, their online presence is much welcomed.  They’ve chimed in with their 50 favourite list.

Always an excellent source for all your year-end list needs, Largehearted Boy‘s list of favourite albums of 2010 is out now.  He keeps an ongoing resource of all year-end lists, so if you’re looking for more, you can check out his full collection here.

So, where’s my list, you ask?  Well, first off, thanks for caring.  It’ll be here soon.  Very soon.  I don’t think there will be many surprises on it, especially if you’ve been a QBiM reader for a while now.  But if you have a list of your own, or stumble across another list that you think should be added to this one, leave a comment and a link below.
